Spoilers for Game of Thrones season 4 immediately ahead.
Charles “Tywin Lannister” Dance got to talking last week during the press tour for Dracula Untold and said some weird things to MTV UK about the forthcoming fifth season of Game of Thrones, which is largely expected to cover events that take place in A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons.
Dance (Oh, hey…a DANCE with dragons! We just got that.) claims that he’s not quite done with the series, despite the events at the close of season 4.
I’m not completely missing out on the next series. More than that, I’m not going to say. You haven’t seen the last of Tywin Lannister, is all I’ll say.
Now, to be technical, Tywin does show up in the book proceeding A Storm of Swords, but as a stinky, super-dead corpse that Cersei seethes and plots over. It seems doubtful that the show would call Dance back just to tell him “lay down, and really stink up the joint” so perhaps we’re in for a flashback? Or maybe the show will start bringing in ghosts that represent characters’ inner turmoil. Tyrion does spend an awful lot of time whinging about his actions in A Dance With Dragons, so that could be it.
But the strongest guess is for a Tywin flashback. Season 5 casting notices strongly point to the appearance of Maggy the Frog—a fortune teller from A Feast for Crows, who appears in Cersei’s past and predicts her future. Maggy is supposed to show up in one episode of season 5; seems like Tywin could be in the same episode, albeit in flashback form?
